West Ham back in picture for signing – Year after Hammers request agent fly to London
Just over a year ago, we covered claims from the Turkish media relating to a West Ham attempt to sign Vincent Aboubakar.
The striker was then playing for Besiktas, and was in good goalscoring form. The Hammers were said to be looking to conclude a deal for the player before the winter 2021 market closed.
According to the claims at the time, West Ham asked the player’s agent to fly to London to discuss personal terms. However, Aboubakar was said to have told his agent to refuse, insisting he was happy and Besiktas and didn’t want to go behind the back of the Turkish club.
It was no surprise to see the player linked with a move to the Premier League, because he had been linked throughout his time with FC Porto, before he left them in 2020.
Fichajes now report West Ham are back in the picture to sign Aboubakar, after he impressed for Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations, winning the Golden Boot with eight goals.
The Hammers are said to be considering the player who is now 30 years of age and plays for Al Nassr, as a signing who could be a support player in David Moyes’ squad.
