LONDON SPORT BUFF REACHES THE FINALS OF BT SPORT’S INNOVATE 21 COMPETITION
BT Sport hosted the live finals of its Innovate 21 competition, where only four finalists were selected to present their ideas and technologies to a panel of experts led by Jamie Hindhaugh, BT Sport’s Chief Operating Officer, at BT Sport Studios in. introduce Stratford.
London-based Sport Buff, the brainchild of Benn Achilleas and Jonty Whitehead, impressed the judges with its in-app broadcast overlay technology to get more fan engagement during live sports. The interactive technology sits right above a sports broadcast and enables gamification, live polls, predictions, trivia, buying, real-time betting, social media, messaging and more, allowing fans to collect points and compete against their friends on live leaderboards.
Benn Achilleas, CEO of Sport Buff said, “It was a really great day and while it wasn’t victorious, it was great to share ideas and insights with so many fantastic entrepreneurs. We thank BT Sport for the opportunity and the judges for their valuable feedback. This is an exciting time for Sport Buff and we can’t wait to bring more fans to our platform for new experiences in the sports they love. “
Sport Buff was, alongside StreamInsights, AriSports and Sport X, one of four companies that made it to the final. Those involved in selecting a shortlist and a winner included journalist and technology expert Lucy Hedges, Matt Stagg, Director of Mobile Strategy, BT Sport, and BT Sport presenters Brian O’Driscoll, Suzi Perry and Robbie Savage.
