International Confex: Let’s do London

By Michael Jones.

International Confex 21’s Let’s Do London Theater hosted a panel discussion on the citywide campaign of the same name, Let’s Do London, which is set to attract businesses, visitors and events to the capital over the coming months.

Speakers included Julie Dixon, Head of Information, Design and Partnerships at Transport for London (TfL); Georgina Warren, Director of Big Events and City Experiences, London & Partners Convention Bureau; Ros Morgan, executive director of the Heart of London Business Alliance; and moderated by Tracey Halliwell MBE Director of Tourism, Conventions and Major Events at London & Partners.

The discussion outlined the importance of working together to bring back originally London, then domestic markets and finally international tourism to London. Morgan argued that “the crisis forced us to work together even when we didn’t like each other because it’s easier and better”.

The visibility of safety measures is also critical to making people feel safe to return to pre-pandemic life, and Dixon stressed the importance of ensuring that “safety measures are tangible at TfL” so that people can feel comfortable feel comfortable traveling through the capital.

Halliwell concluded, “London has some great events over the next few years, we just have to get through the next few months”.
