Brazilian restaurant Bossa coming to London from a World’s 50 Best chef | latest news
If you were studiously following the announcement of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants recentlyand like to keep your eye on the next hot dining destination, then one of the chefs on the list has a new London opening in store.
Alberto Landgraf, chef patron of two-Michelin-starred Oteque in Rio de Janeiro, ranked 47 on this year’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, is bringing some Brazilian flavors to London before the end of the year with a new restaurant called Bossa.
Son of a farmer with German ancestry and a Japanese mother, Alberto began his culinary career in London in the early 2000s, working with Tom Aikens and Gordon Ramsay among others, before returning to Brazil in 2006 to carve out his own career to great acclaim. His first restaurant Epice in São Paolo won a Michelin star, before he relocated to Rio Janeiro in 2018 to launch Oteque, which really put him on the global culinary map, scooping one Michelin star a few months after opening, two Michelin stars the following year , as well as a 100 ranking on the ‘extended’ end of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2019.
No pressure, Alberto, but it’s fair to say we are expecting a lot from your new London restaurant Bossa. We will bring further details when we have them, but it will feature contemporary Brazilian food in a relaxed atmosphere from some of the best of the Oteque crew, though he’s quick to assure us that “it will also not be the second Oteque”. Somewhat aptly, the location will be beneath the Brazilian consulate, just off Oxford Street, where Maroush used to be.
